REFRESHING, CRAFT-BREWED, HIBISCUS BEVERAGE
What is sorrel?
For many people, our tea might be their first experience with this species of Hibiscus Sabdariffa, also called Roselle. In the Caribbean we simply call it Sorrel. Ask any Caribbean person about sorrel and their smiles alone will explain why Sorrel is considered the Crown Jewel of the Caribbean. It conjures up thoughts of tropical goodness and a spicy unique flavor. Universally, Sorrel refers to the plump, deep ruby-colored hibiscus flowers of the Roselle plant, grown in the tropics around the world. For centuries the sepals of the sorrel flowers have been used to make beverages, celebrated by countless cultures for their distinctive tart flavor, health benefits and healing powers. Once brewed, the tea is often sweetened, combined with different spices and flavors and enjoyed during holidays and festivities.
